PJSC UAC was established on November 20, 2006, in accordance with the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation of February 20, 2006 No.140 "On Joint Stock Company United Aircraft Corporation" for preservation and development of scientific and industrial potential of Russian aircraft industry, the security and defence of the state, concentration of intellectual, industrial and financial resources to implement long-term programs of aviation technology.
To date, UAC includes about 30 enterprises and is one of the largest players in the global aviation market. Companies within the structure of the Corporation have the rights to such world-famous brands as "Su", "MiG", "IL", "Tu", "Yak", "Beriev", as well as new SSJ and MS-21.
Priority areas of activity of the Corporation are design, production, testing, operation, warranty and service maintenance of aircrafts for civil and military purposes. UAC companies work in the spheres of modernization, repair and disposal of aircraft, training and advanced training of aircraft personnel.
To date, the largest share in the structure of production goes to military products both for the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation and foreign customers. From 2013 onwards, the main share of deliveries of military equipment accounts for the domestic market.
In 2013 nine aircraft repair plants of the Russian Federation Ministry of Defence were transferred to UAC. As a result, in 2014 the serviceability of the Air Force fleet increased from 40% to 65%.
UAC seeks to increase the proportion of civil aviation in the structure of sales, primarily due to the build-up of serial production of SSJ100 and the program of prospective aircraft family MS-21. A significant backlog of orders for these products ensures uninterrupted capacity utilization in the medium term.
The assets of the Corporation are located in various regions of Russia, there are joint ventures with foreign partners operating in India and Italy. The enterprises included in UAC employ more than 90,000 people.
According to a “Long-term development strategy of PJSC UAC for the period up to the year 2025” it is planned to increase revenue by 4 times up to RUB 900 billion, reaching the level of profitability of sales on net profit of no less than 10%.
Among the priorities are quality and smooth execution of contracts under the State Defence Order, development of effective full scale international cooperation with foreign aviation companies, as well as the formation of technology advance for the promotion of domestic products in the world market.
In April 2015 the Company changed its full name to Public Joint Stock Company “United Aircraft Corporation” (PJSC UAC).
